KABUL (Tasnim) – Hundreds of Afghan people from all walks of life took to streets in the capital, Kabul, and other cities of the South Asian country to mark the International Quds Day and express their solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.

According to Tasnim dispatches, a huge number of fasting Muslims participated in a massive demonstration in Kabul on Friday to commemorate the Quds Day.

Hundreds of others also staged a huge rally in the western city of Herat on the International Quds Day.

During the rallies, the demonstrators shouted slogans against the Zionist regime of Israel and the US government.

Each year, the International Quds Day is celebrated across the world on the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The event’s raison d'être is renewing support for the Palestinians and denunciation of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
