Iran Never Allows Palestinian Suffering to Slip into Oblivion: US Analyst

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior political analyst based in the United States praised Iran’s unwavering support for Palestinians, saying if it were not for “the conscientious, principled stand” that the Islamic Republic has taken, the plight of Palestine would have been forgotten.

“Out of seven billion people on the planet and the hundreds of nations, there is only one, to my present knowledge, that understands the importance of making the recognition of the plight of Palestine part of national policy,” Mark Gelnn, from Idaho, said in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency.

“Obviously, when we compare the policies of Iran to those of other ‘Muslim’ countries, and particularly those who have been corrupted by Western/Zionist money and influence, the differences are stark,” he noted.

Mark Glenn is a writer and co-founder of the Crescent and Cross Solidarity Movement, an interfaith forum dedicated to uniting Muslims and Christians against Zionists. He has his own blog The Ugly Truth.

The following is the full text of the interview:

Tasnim: As you know, on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan each year, Muslims and anti-Israeli activists hold worldwide demonstrations to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemn the Israeli regime’s continued inhumane acts against the defenseless people. In your opinion, why is the Quds Day important to the Palestinians and other oppressed nations?

Gelnn: Israel’s 1st Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion was once quoted in reference to the expulsion of non-Jews from Palestine saying ‘The old will die and the young will forget’. As much as those within the civilized world cringe at the cold, calculating nature of his comments when describing the wholesale destruction of an innocent people by virtue of their non-Jewish status,  the fact is, his comments are correct in terms of human nature--the old die and the young forget, and this is precisely what would take place were it not for the conscientious, principled stand that Muslims--and particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran--has taken with regards to never allowing the Palestinian suffering to be forgotten, as Israel would like it to take place.

Tasnim: The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979. What do you think about Imam Khomeini’s initiative and his role in preventing the Palestinian issue from sliding into oblivion?

Gelnn: The more I come to understand the history and protocols that led up to the 1979 Revolution and what its legacy is today, the more I am astounded at the brilliance of the thinkers and principalists who were and are involved. Out of 7 billion people on the planet and the hundreds of nations, there is only one (to my present knowledge) that understands the importance of making the recognition of the plight of Palestine part of national policy. Obviously, when we compare the policies of Iran to those of other ‘Muslim’ countries, and particularly those who have been corrupted by Western/Zionist money and influence, the differences are stark.

Tasnim: The Israeli military forces attack Palestinians in occupied territories almost on a daily basis. Recently, Muslim worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East al-Quds, attacked by Israeli forces, were left suffocating and injured after tear gas grenades and rubber bullets were fired. Why has the international community, particularly the Western mainstream media, made a muted response to the Tel Aviv regime’s human rights violations against Palestinians so far?

Gelnn: There is no such thing as a ‘Western’ media. This is an artificially created term meant to confuse those upon whose ears it falls into thinking that it is something more than what it actually is, which is a Zionist media whose sole purpose is to advance and promote Jewish interests both in the Middle East and throughout the world. And as bad as these recent instances of overt violence have been and the lifeless response on the part of those making up the ‘Christian’ West, the readers should recall recent massacres in Gaza where thousands of innocent men, women, and children were slaughtered like sheep and with no response whatsoever from the West, neither from the governments nor the people themselves.

Tasnim: What do you think about the Zionist-led war on Islam and what is the role of Quds Day in the struggle for Palestine?

Gelnn: There can be no ambiguity about the fact that indeed it is a war on Islam. Zionism is not just about the conquest of Palestine and the Middle East, but as well, about the destruction of the West, a civilization that was built upon the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. As both the New Testament and the Holy Quran make clear, powerful Jewish interests at the time despised the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and did everything they could to remove His enlightened, civilizing teachings from public discourse and they continue with this mission today. Of the 3 Abrahamic faiths, it is Islam ALONE that strives to pay respect to the teachings and person of Jesus Christ and therefore this--along with the other civilizing aspects of Islam--is the reason why organized Jewish interests have decided that it simply must be removed as an antidote and antibiotic to the plague that is Zionism and Jewish power.
