Iran Ready to Boost Ties with Czech Republic: Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani voiced the country’s readiness to promote mutual cooperation with the Czech Republic in economic areas, the energy sector in particular.

In a Tuesday meeting with Jan Hamacek, the chairman of the chamber of deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, held in South Korea, Larijani described Tehran- Prague relations as “historical” and stressed that the Islamic Republic is ready to expand its investment cooperation with the European country in all economic areas particularly the field of energy following the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers.

The Iranian parliament speaker traveled to South Korea on Monday to attend the second annual meeting of parliament speakers of the Eurasian states.

Heading a delegation of Iranian lawmakers, Larijani is joining his counterparts from dozens of Asian and European countries in Seoul for the 3-day conference.

He added that the two countries should promote their banking cooperation as well in order to allow their businessmen to have a stronger economic performance.

Hamacek, for his part, said the trade relations between the two nations are increasing on a daily basis and Czech companies are eager to increase their cooperation with their Iranian counterparts.

During the meeting, the Czech official invited Larijani to the Czech Republic on a state visit.

Back in November 2016, the foreign ministers of Iran and the Czech Republic inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Prague during the Iranian top diplomat’s visit to the Eastern European country.

Following a meeting to discuss bilateral ties and regional and international developments, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Czech counterpart, Lubomir Zaoralek, signed the MoU on holding regular political consultations between the two countries.
