Iranian President Congratulates Madagascar on National Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the government and people of Madagascar as the African nation celebrated the anniversary of its independence on June 26.

In a message to Madagascan President Hery Rajaonarimampianina, Rouhani felicitated the occasion and expressed the hope for closer relations between Tehran and Antananarivo in all areas.

The Iranian president also wished health and success for Rajaonarimampianina and prosperity and happiness for the Madagascan people.

The Republic of Madagascar, an island country in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Southeast Africa, celebrates its Independence Day on June 26 every year.

Madagascar gained independence from France on June 26, 1960.

Africa is the continent that Iran has long strived to maximize relations with.

Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of the Iranian foreign policy.
