Palestinian Groups Deplore Arab Support for US-Israeli Plans
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leaders and representatives of Palestinian resistance groups decried certain Arab governments’ support for US and Israeli schemes to sideline the issue of Palestine.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari, who is in Syria for political talks, held a meeting with the leaders and representatives of Palestinian resistance groups in Damascus.
In the gathering, the resistance groups leaders expressed gratitude to Iran for backing the Palestinian nation and defending its aspirations.
They also bemoaned the fact that certain Arab governments are backing Zionist-American plots for marginalizing the issue of Palestine, which is a basic issue of concern in the Islamic world.
The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), and Palestine-Iran friendship population were represented in the meeting.
The Iranian diplomat, too, warned against hostile conspiracies against Palestine and other regional nations.
He further hailed the success the resistance forces have achieved since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
In February, in an address to the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said, “The significance of offering political support to the people of Palestine should never be neglected. This issue has a special priority in today’s world.”
The Leader also described supporting the resistance as a collective responsibility, noting, “No one has the right to have special expectations of them in return for assistance. The only condition for assistance is that such assistance is expended on strengthening the people of Palestine and the structure of the Resistance.”
