Yemeni Forces Shell Saudi Bases in Najran, Asir, Jizan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s army, backed by popular forces, shelled several Saudi military sites in the kingdom’s southwestern region of Najran near the border with Yemen, inflicting heavy human and material losses on them.

The artillery command of Yemen’s army on Tuesday pounded the military sites of Salatah, al-Shabakah, al-Abasih and al-Khadhra in Najran in retaliation to the Riyadh regime’s atrocious military campaign against its southern neighbor, Saba news agency reported.

Moreover, Yemeni artillery units targeted the positions of Saudi soldiers in Alab border crossing in the kingdom’s southwestern region of Asir.

Also, the Yemeni army’s soldiers, backed by fighters from allied Popular Committees, launched mortar attacks against Kanboor military camp in Saudi Arabia's border region of Jizan, located 967 kilometers southwest of the capital Riyadh, on Tuesday.

The attacks were carried out in retaliation for the regime's ongoing airstrikes targetting Yemeni civilians.

The developments came as Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition led by the Saudi regime for nearly 27 months but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Nearly 10,000 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
