Iran Finishes in 5th Place at Asian Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran U-23 volleyball team defeated China to finish in fifth place at the 2017 Asian Men's Senior Volleyball Championship.

On Tuesday, Juan Cichello’s boys beat China 3-1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21) at the Tridharma Petrochemical Sports Stadium.

South Korea defeated Indonesia in straight sets in bronze medal match.

Later in the day, Japan will face Kazakhstan in the final match.

Former successive two-time champion Iran fielded a U-23 squad in its final preparation for the next month’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-23 World Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

The 2017 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship is the 19th edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, the biennial international men's volleyball championship of Asia organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).

The event is being held in Surabaya, Indonesia from 24 July to 1 August 2017. It is the second time that Indonesia hosts the tournament after the 2007 Asian Championship.
