Yemeni Forces Inflict Heavy Casualties on Saudi Mercenaries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni army and Popular Committees, in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by a coalition led by the Saudi regime, pounded the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in Yemen's southwestern province of Taiz.

The Yemeni forces fired Katyusha rockets at the gatherings of Saudi-backed militants in the Dhubab district and Yakhtal in Taiz Province, according to the Arabic-language al-Ahed news website.

The artillery unit of the Yemeni army also shelled al-Hameli area, north of the port of Mokha, the report said.

It also targeted the gatherings of mercenaries in the north of the border district of Midi in Jawf Province, inflicting heavy casualties on them.

The attacks by the Yemeni forces were carried out in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president.

According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
