Iran’s NPC, France’s Air Liquide Sign Deal over MTP Plant
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – French industrial gases producer Air Liquide has signed a deal with Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) to build a 500,000 tons/year methanol-to-propylene (MTP) plant.
Owned and operated by Iran’s Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, the plant would be built in the southwestern Iranian city of Mahshahr, Shana news agency reported.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony recently held in Tehran attended by Vice President of Air Liquide Helmut Maschke, Head of the NPC Marzieh Shahdaei and Esmaeil Qanbari, the managing director of the company.
Qanbari recently said that Petrochemical Research and Technology Company has developed a new model for cooperation with foreign firms, stipulating that contracts will only be signed if the foreign technologies are transferred to and localized in Iran.
The new business model, he said, would generate jobs, link the upstream sector to the downstream and petrochemical sectors and generate added value for the industry.
