“Full implementation of the JCPOA would benefit the European Union and the region, so it is necessary for the EU to step up its efforts and role in this regard,” President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with Austria’s new ambassador to Tehran on Wednesday.

Voicing Iran’s determination to take advantage of the post-JCPOA era to attract foreign investment, import new technologies and facilitate banking cooperation with other countries, the president added that there exists plenty of opportunities for partnership between Tehran and Vienna.

For his part, the Austrian ambassador assured Iran that it can rely on Austria as a reliable partner, especially in hard times.

Austria supports Iran’s policies in the international arena, the envoy added.

In a separate meeting on Wednesday, President Rouhani and Serbia’s new ambassador, Dragan Todorovic, discussed ways to broaden the relations between Tehran and Belgrade.

Describing tourism industry as a major field for stronger bilateral relations, President Rouhani said exchanging tourists could strengthen bonds between the two nations.

The envoy, for his part, expressed Serbia’s willingness to expand political, economic, cultural and industrial ties with Iran, and passed on an invitation from Serbia’s president for Rouhani to visit the European country.

Todorovic also noted that Serbia’s parliament is weighing plans to ease visa restrictions for Iranian travelers in the near future.
