Iranian Deputy FM, Lebanese Speaker Discuss Closer Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari and Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri exchanged views about diverse issues, including ways to promote the ties between Tehran and Beirut.

Meeting in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Monday, the two sides also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and the world.

Jaberi Ansari had met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun earlier in the day.

Heading a high-ranking political delegation, Jaberi Ansari arrived in Beirut on Monday at the invitation of the Lebanese government.

Three weeks ago, Iranian Parliament speaker's special adviser on international affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, had paid an official visit to Lebanon in a bid to boost ties between the Islamic Republic and the Arab country.

In a meeting with Berri in Beirut on July 31, Amir Abdollahian underscored that Iran will keep providing effective support for the anti-Israeli axis of resistance in Lebanon.
