Iran Army Chief Stresses Synergy with Defense Ministry, IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said he, the Defense Minister and a senior Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander explored avenues for closer interaction and cooperation to boost the country’s defense capabilities.

Major General Mousavi, who took the office as the new Army chief on August 22, held separate meetings with Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh on Wednesday.

He said the meetings revolved around ways to accelerate cooperation among the Army, the Defense Ministry and the IRGC, implementation of joint projects to achieve more success in the security and defensive sectors, and the exchange of experiences in the scientific and research field.

Last year, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei praised the Iranian Armed Forces for employing a combination of military effectiveness and spiritual motivations, urging an incessant push to strengthen those capabilities.

The Iranian Armed Forces belong not to a specific individual or faction, but to the nation and country, protecting the national security, Ayatollah Khamenei said in April 2016.

The Leader also stressed the need for the simultaneous reinforcement of operational military capabilities and spiritual motives of the Armed Forces.
