Iranian Athletes Win Four Gold Medals at AIMAG

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian sportsmen claimed four gold medals at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Ashgabat on Monday.

Taekwondo fighters Mahdi Eshaghi in the Men’s -54kg and Mahdi Jalali in the Men’s -74kg claimed two gold medals. Fatemeh Madahi won the bronze medal in the Women's -46kg.

Ju-jitsu fighter Masoud Jalilvand won a gold medal in the Men's Ne-waza +94kg after beating his compatriot Masoud Hassanzadeh.

Iran’s Men's Team Sprint also snared a gold medal in the competition.

Furthermore, Persian traditional wrestlers snatched one silver and five bronze medals.

Hamed Mirzapour in the Men's Classic Style -90 kg claimed a silver medal.

Esmaeil Amiri (Men's Freestyle -68 kg), Ghasem Dazi (Men's Freestyle -75 kg), Habibollah Torabi (Men's Freestyle -82 kg), Leila Siahvashi (Women's Classic Style -52 kg) and Reyhaneh Sheikhian (Women's Classic Style -58 kg) claimed five bronze medals.

The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games kicked off in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, on Saturday.

More than 6,000 athletes and team officials will be representing 65 countries.
