Yemen Fires Homegrown Missile at Saudi Mercenaries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The forces of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees targeted the positions of Saudi mercenaries in the southwestern province of Taiz with a domestically made ballistic missile dubbed “Zelzal-2”, sources said on Thursday.

The Yemeni forces hit a gathering of the Saudi mercenaries in al-Hameli district in Taiz and inflicted heavy casualties on them, the Arabic-language al-Manar news channel reported.

The forces of the Arabian Peninsula country also pounded a Saudi base in the kingdom’s southwestern province of Jizan with Katyusha missiles.

In another development, the Yemeni army and Popular Committees attacked convoys of the mercenaries of the Saudi-led coalition in the west-central Marib province, killing and injuring a number of the militants.

The attacks against the Saudi forces came in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the coalition led by the Riyadh regime.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
