Iran’s Petrochimi Fails to Advance to FIBA Asia Champions Cup Final


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Petrochimi of Iran lost to Lebanon’s Al Riyadi 74-64 in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017 semi-final on Friday.

Kashgar of China beat BC Astana of Kazakhstan 79–70 in the other semi-final.

Petrochimi had two players score in double-figures - Arsalan Kazemi and Saeid Davarpanah - who combined for 27 points and 17 rebounds.

Quincy Douby scored 23 points laced with 5 assists and 2 triples to lead the way for Riyadi. Big men Chris Daniels and Ali Haidar also played their roles well, pairing up for 28 points and 19 rebounds.

Al Riyadi will face Kashgar in the final match and Petrochimi meet BC Astana in the third place match.

The 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup is the 26th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia.

The tournament takes place in Chenzhou, China from 22 September to 30 September 2017.

This is second straight year that China hosts the tournament.
