Enemies Focusing on Economic War on Iran, Official Warns
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization described waging an economic battle against Iran as the main plot the enemies have hatched to harm the country.
An economic war on Iran is the number one threat in the list of the US threats against the Islamic Republic, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said in a gathering of Basij commanders.
The latest and most complicated methods of economic war are now being masterminded and implemented against Iran, he added.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on several occasions pointed to economic issues as the country’s main priority, describing it as a priority for the enemies as well.
In order to achieve their objectives, the enemies are looking for “economic damage” to Iran, the Leader said in the new year’s speech in March, saying the adversaries seek to exert economic pressure on Iranians to discourage the nation from supporting the Islamic Establishment and drive a wedge between the people and the Establishment.
Also in February, Imam Khamenei slammed the US rhetoric of military action on Iran as a ploy to distract attention from the real war against the Islamic Republic, i.e. the economic battle.
