Iranian Nation Enjoying Full Security Thanks to IRGC: VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri praised the growing power of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and said the Iranian nation is enjoying full security across the country thanks to the endeavors of the IRCG.

In a speech in the northwestern city of Mianeh on Saturday, Jahangiri slammed “stupid comments” made by Trump on Friday against Iran and the IRGC and described the remarks as baseless and stupid.

“The Iranian people will not forget the braveries the IRGC showed during eight years of Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war on Iran),” he said.

The first vice-president added that in recent years, the IRGC has stood against the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, which has been created by the US government.

“Today, the Iranian nation is enjoying full security thanks to the same IRGC,” Jahangiri added.

Trump in a major confrontational stance against Iran on Friday refused to certify multilateral deal on Tehran peaceful nuclear program and imposed further sanctions against the country’s elite Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

Speaking from the White House on Friday, Trump said he will choose not to certify that Tehran is complying with the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

While Trump did not pull Washington out of the nuclear deal, he gave the US Congress 60 days to decide whether to re-impose economic sanctions against Tehran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the US president announced sanctions on the IRGC. He accused the security body of destabilizing the Middle East and threatening American interests in the region.
