Hezbollah Official Says Trump Notorious for Violating Commitments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A top official of Lebanon’s Hezbollah said US President Donald Trump has gained notoriety in the public opinion of the world for breaching agreements and pursuing cruel policies.

Following the US president’s hawkish comments against Iran and his refusal to certify Iran’s compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s second-in-command, Sheikh Naim Qassem, said Trump made it clear that he does not honor international treaties and commitments and is seeking to impose US policies on regional nations.

“Today, Trump is known in the public opinion of the world and the American nation as a violator, a despot and a tyrant in the real sense of the word,” Al-Manar TV quoted Sheikh Qassem as saying.

Pointing to Trump’s anger at Hezbollah’s capabilities and acts of deterrence to Israel and Takfiri groups, Qassem said the US president may be able to fuel tensions in the world, but he could never force the axis of resistance to give in to pressures.

“Israel, to our eye, is an enemy and will remain so forever,” he added.

After months of anticipation, the US president on Friday set out a new strategy for dealing with Iran. In his speech, Trump also expressed concern about Iran’s “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” chants.
