JCPOA to Survive despite Trump’s Opposition: Britain's Johnson

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said he is confident that the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers will survive despite attempts by US President Donald Trump to kill it.

In a speech in London Monday, Johnson said the Iranian nuclear deal is evidence diplomacy can work and that he is confident that deal will survive, despite Trump's opposition, AP reported.

Recently, Johnson said his country backs efforts to protect the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He further emphasized that Britain is resolved to support the nuclear deal and stressed the need for efforts to protect it.

In a major confrontational stance against Iran on October 13, US President Donald Trump refused to certify the multilateral deal on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Speaking from the White House, Trump said he will choose not to certify that Tehran is complying with the agreement.
