Iran Outclasses Maldives at FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran overpowered the Maldives 129-39 in the Division B Quarter-Final of the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Championship 2017 on Thursday.

The West Asians wasted no time in this one, zooming to a 25-7 lead in the first quarter and never relinquishing the initiative.

Aida Golmohammadi shone brightly for the Iranian basketball team, putting up 18 points on top of 20 rebounds and 4 steals. She was ably supported by Puonik Arakilians and Maryam Shirazi, who tallied 16 and 15 points respectively.

Amra Amir was the lone bright spot for the Maldives with 10 points.

Iran will face Malaysia in the first Semi-Final, while Kazakhstan take on hosts India, who qualified after sweeping Group A.
