Conspiracies against Muslims Doomed to Failure: Senior Cleric
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Head of the Union of Resistance Scholars called the Balfour Declaration a conspiracy against the Muslim Ummah (community) and said that all conspiracies against Muslims are doomed to failure.
“All (anti-Muslim) plots, whether hatched by Riyadh, Tel Aviv or Paris, will fail, just as those in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq failed,” Sheikh Maher Hamoud said in an address to the second edition of the international conference of resistance scholars that kicked off in Beirut on Wednesday.
He referred to the defeat of Israel in its wars against Gaza and Lebanon and said the victories were based not on the number of military forces or amount of equipment but on “determination and commitment”.
Highlighting the importance of the issue of Palestine for the Muslim world, the cleric added that “Palestine will remain our first Qibla (direction of prayer) and they are not able to deviate us from our route.”
More than 200 scholars from over 80 countries are attending the two-day event.
“True Promise: Palestine between Balfour Declaration and Divine Promise” is the theme of the conference.
The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British government during World War I announcing support for the establishment of the Israeli regime.
