President Vows Continued Support for Iranian Armed Forces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani pledged his administration’s continued support for the Armed Forces, stressing the need to furnish the military units with up-to-date equipment.

In order for the Iranian Armed Forces to maintain operational power, they need to remain agile in structure, keep up internal order, and enjoy up-to-date equipment, President Rouhani said in a meeting with senior Army commanders in Tehran on Saturday.

Hailing the Army as a reliable force, the president said his administration will keep supporting the Armed Forces.

Back in September, President Rouhani  unveiled plans for a boost to the country’s military and defense power, including an enhancement of its missile program.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also on various occasions underlined the need for strengthening the country’s military power, describing it as natural and an “inalienable right”.

Last week, Ayatollah Khamenei categorically rejected the idea of negotiations on Iran’s defense power, stressing that the country will press ahead with the plans to boost its might and build up its defense capabilities.
