Syria Army Repulses Major Attack by Al-Nusra on Quneitra

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces repelled a major attack by Al-Nusra Front, also known as the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, in an area in Quneitra, inflicting major losses on the terror group in the southwestern province.

The al-Nursa terrorists attempted to sneak into Hadar town in the northern countryside of Quneitra province on Saturday, but were pushed back in a timely counterattack by the Syrian army, a military commander, speaking on the condition of anonymity, SANA reported.

A large number of the Israeli-backed militants were killed and injured during the clashes.

The Syrian troops managed to retake all the positions which the terrorists had attacked and completely foiled the attack.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Syrian government says the Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups wreaking havoc in the country.
