Iran’s Zarif Due in Italy, Azerbaijan This Week
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to pay official visits to Italy and Azerbaijan later this week to participate in two international conferences, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi announced on Wednesday.
Zarif is slated to leave Tehran for the Italian capital of Rome on Thursday to attend the third edition of the Rome MED-Mediterranean Dialogues, Qassemi said.
The spokesman also said that the Iranian top diplomat would be a keynote speaker at the international event.
The conference is an annual high-level initiative co-organized by Italy’s Foreign Ministry and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).
The third edition of the Rome MED - Mediterranean Dialogues is scheduled to be held in Rome from November 30 to December 2.
Zarif would then leave Italy for the Azeri capital of Baku on Friday to take part in the Heart of Asia Conference.
By focusing on Afghanistan, the conference provides a framework for the development of “friendly and fruitful regional cooperation” with the aim of reinforcing regional peace and prosperity, Qassemi said.
He also noted that the Heart of Asia Conference includes 14 participating and 17 supporting countries, as well as 12 international and regional organizations.
