Iran’s Nader Moradi Takes Gold at World Para Powerlifting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nader Moradi from Iran claimed a gold medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico City early Tuesday.

Sports

In the men’s up to 72kg, London 2012 champion Moradi took gold following a 209kg lift ahead of compatriot and Paralympic silver medalist Roohollah Rostami, who cleared the bar at 208kg.

China’s Rio 2016 silver medalist Hu Peng had high expectations in the lead-up to Mexico City 2017 but had to settle for bronze.

He lifted 208kg, the same as Rostami, but ended third due to his higher body weight.

Iran’s Amir Jafari Arangeh and Yousef Yousefi had already claimed silver and bronze medals respectively in the 59kg category.
