Persepolis into Iran’s Hazfi Cup Quarterfinals

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated second tier Baadraan 2-1 on Friday and booked a place in the Iran’s Hazfi Cup quarterfinals.

In the match held at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Godwin Mensha scored from the penalty spot in the 36th minute after Persepolis midfielder Bashar Resan was brought down in the penalty area.

Baadraan needed just four minutes to equalize the match after Mehrdad Rezaei headed the ball into goal.

Persepolis defender Shoja Khalilzadeh put Persepolis into the lead in the 54th minute with a header.

Persepolis will face Sanat Naft on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

On Monday, Gostaresh Foolad will meet Khooneh be Khooneh, Esteghlal Khuzestan face Tractor Sazi and Esteghlal play Iranjavan Bushehr.

The Hazfi Cup is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation.
