Australia Wants to Play Friendly with Iran: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Australian Ambassador to Iran, Ian Biggs, has offered a friendly match between Iran and Australia as part of preparation for the 2018 World Cup.

At a meeting held in Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) headquarters on Monday, the official announced their interest in playing a warm-up match with the best Asian team on behalf of Football Federation Australia (FFA).

FFIRI President Mehdi Taj welcomed Ian Biggs and said it can be a useful friendly but Team Melli coach Carlos Queiroz will make the final decision.

Australia has been drawn in Group C along with France, Denmark and Peru.

Iran will play Morocco, Spain and Portugal in Group B.
