Israel Warplanes Attack Gaza Strip

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Zionist regime of Israel's warplanes targeted positions in the southern Gaza Strip early Tuesday as protests and clashes in the occupied Palestinian lands continued weeks after the US decision to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as capital of Israel.

Israel forces claimed that they have targeted Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, positions in southern Gaza.

Also, on Saturday night, Israel warplanes had attacked a Hamas observation post in southern Gaza.

Earlier on Monday evening, Palestinian resistance groups fired a rocket from Gaza that media reports said exploded in an open area in the Gaza Belt region. There were no report of physical injuries.

There were also reports of rocket launches on Sunday. Last Friday, Gaza-based resistance movements fired three rockets towards southern Israel.

In another development, Israel’s Shin Bet, military and police ambushed the West Bank and arrested five Hamas members, living there.

Shin Bet claimed that the Hamas members were planning an attack on Israeli forces.

The development came as weeks after the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel capital, protests and clashes between Palestinians and the occupying Israeli forces is continuing in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The move by the US president in December sparked violent protests in the world and was condemned by majority of the UN member states.

Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
