IRGC Seizes Explosives in SE Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan confiscated a consignment of explosives and suicide belts smuggled into the country for terrorist attacks.

The IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base said in a statement on Friday evening that its forces in Saravan region had confiscated the cargo of explosives, suicide belts and communication equipment.

Members of the so-called Jundallah terrorist group had moved the cargo into the country to foment insecurity and unrest and carry out terrorist attacks, it added.

The statement also assured the Iranian nation of the security forces’ preparedness to protect the country’s border areas and foil plots by the enemies.

Since a couple of years ago, the IRGC has been tasked with ensuring security of southeastern border areas in cooperation with local residents.

Located in southeast of Iran, Sistan and Balouchestan borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, and has a long coastline by the Sea of Oman.
