IJF Tunis Judo Grand Prix: Iran’s Javad Mahjoub Claims Silver

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Javad Mahjoub from Iran claimed a silver medal in the International Judo Federation (IJF) Grand Prix in Tunis Sunday night.

In the heaviest male category, the over 100 kilograms, Oleksandr Gordiienko of Ukraine defeated Javad Mahjoub from Iran by waza ari.

Bronze medals went to Russians Ruslan Shakhbazov, who beat Romania’s Vladut Simionescu, and Tamerlan Bashaev, who defeated Faicel Jaballah from Tunisia.

The three-day tournament brought 335 athletes with 197 men and 138 women from 46 countries together.

Iran took part in the competition with seven participants.
