Iran’s Zarif to Address ICAPP Meeting on Friday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will open a meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Tehran on Friday.

In remarks on Tuesday, Hassan Ghafourifard, a member of the Central Council of Iran’s Islamic Coalition Party, said the 29th Meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee is slated to be held in Tehran on February 2 and 3.

He added that about 100 leaders and senior officials from 40 political parties and organizations from 25 Asian countries, as well as officials from regional and international organizations, are planned to attend the event.

Ghafourifard further said Zarif plans to deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference on Friday.  

The International Conference of Asian Political Parties was launched in Manila in September 2000 to promote exchanges and cooperation between political parties with various ideologies from different Asian countries, to enhance mutual understanding and trust among Asian countries, and to promote Asia’s regional cooperation through the unique role and channel of political parties, according to its website.
