Syria Army Makes Fresh Gains in Aleppo, Idlib

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued their military campaign against al-Nusra terrorists in the Aleppo countryside, managing to liberate five villages from the grip of the Takfiri group.

Syrian forces on Friday made gains in their fight against al-Nusra militants on the outskirts of Aleppo in south and recaptured the areas of Kafr Haddad, Ziyaret al-Matakh, Warida, Zamar, and Warida hill, SANA news agency reported.

It added that the Syrian forces are now busy clearing the regained areas of the land mines and explosives left behind by the militants.

In a separate development on Thursday, Syrian troops inflicted major losses on Takfiri terrorists in the northwestern province of Idlib, seizing control over the areas of al-Msherfeh, al-Tweheneh, al-Husseineh, Tal al-Sultan, Masaada, Tal Kharta, Jabl al-Taweel, and Tal Kalbeh.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the government and its foreign military allies have recaptured from terrorists.

Syria is in the final stages of a battle against Takfiri terrorist groups, which poured into the Arab country after the outbreak of a civil war in 2011.

On November 19, the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group was flushed out of its last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate it had declared in 2014.
