Iran Offers Condolences to Hong Kong on Bus Crash

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry extended its condolences to China and the Hong Kong special administrative region (SAR) over a bus crash that killed at least 18 people and wounded more than 60 others.

In a statement on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi offered condolences to the governments and nations of China and the Hong Kong SAR, as well as the families of victims of the deadly bus crash.

At least 18 people were killed and 62 others injured when a double-decker bus crashed on Saturday in a rural area of Hong Kong.

The bus was traveling from Sha Tin to Tai Po Center in Hong Kong’s New Territories when it turned over, shearing off part of its roof, according to news media reports.

The crash was the deadliest in Hong Kong since 2003, when 21 people were killed when a double-decker bus broke through a guardrail and careened off a road.

Hong Kong and Macau, former British and Portuguese dependencies, are the special administrative regions of China that enjoy the highest degree of autonomy.
