Iranian Giants Ready for ACL Matchday Two

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis and Esteghlal football teams are ready to clash with their rivals at Matchday Two of the 2018 AFC Champions League, scheduled for Tuesday.

Persepolis, who qualified for the semi-final last year for the first time, will play Al Sadd of Qatar in Doha’s Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

The Iranian side began its campaign in style by posting a 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Nasaf in Tehran and a healthy lead at the top of the Group C standings will be on offer to the victor in Qatar.

Esteghlal, who came from 2-1 behind to level the match against Al Rayyan last week, will host Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in Muscat’s Seeb Stadium as two of the continent’s biggest and best supported teams renew acquaintances once more.

All four teams in Group D remain level pegging after Al Rayyan and Esteghlal played out a 2-2 draw before Al Hilal and Al Ain ended goalless in last Tuesday’s opening round of fixtures.
