ACL Matchday Two: Iran’s Zob Ahan Beats Uzbekistan's Lokomotiv

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Zob Ahan of Iran defeated Uzbekistan's Lokomotiv 2-0 in Group B of the 2018 AFC Champions League on Monday.

Two teams observed a minute’s silence for Iran plane crash victims ahead of the match.

The first period ended goalless but within two minutes of the restart, the host finally took the lead.

Morteza Tabrizi was well positioned to power home a header after Mohammad Reza Hosseini floated in a pin-point free kick.

Lokomotiv football team was unable to break through a resolute defensive barrier set up by Amir Ghalenoei's men.

Hosseini made it 2-0 for Zob Ahan with a close-range strike after the Uzbek defense failed to clear Mehdi Rajabzadeh's corner in the injury time.

The result gave Zob Ahan its first win of the campaign, putting it level on points with Lokomotiv in the Group B standings.

Zob Ahan will host UAE’s Al Wahda on Matchday Three while Lokomotiv travel to Doha to face Al Duhail.
