Yemen Army Targets Saudi Mercenaries with Homegrown Missile


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s army and Popular Committees fired a homegrown ballistic missile at the position of Saudi-backed militants in the southwestern province of Taiz.

The missile unit of the Yemen army and Popular Committees on Tuesday fired a ballistic missile, Zilzal 2 at gathering of Saudi-coalition militants in Mouza district in Taiz province, a military official told Saba News Agency.

The Yemeni forces’ missile hit the Saudi coalition forces in al-Hamaly area, inflicting heavy causalities upon them.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army and Popular Committees targeted the Saudi military sites in al-Khafaqa, al-Rabua'h, al-Hascholl, al-Ajashar and Alib mountains in the kingdom’s southern provinces of Najran, Jizan and Asir and killed an injured several soldiers.

In another development, at least 16 Saudi-led coalition militants, including top commanders were killed on Tuesday when the Yemeni army carried out an attack against their sites in the central province of Bayda.

The Yemeni troops launched the attacks in retaliation for the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes which targeted several Yemeni provinces in the past 24 hours.

The Saudi-led coalition targeted Mahdidah area in Baqim and also Razih districts in the Yemen’s northern province of Sa’ada.

In the northwestern province of Hajjah, the Saudi fighter jets conducted 17 raids on Harad and Medi districts.

The Saudi warplanes launched also an attack on al-Hamala area in Karash district in the southern province of Lahij.

Also in the northern Sa’ada province, Saudi troops fired more than 100 rockets at Razih and Munabah border districts, causing heavy damage to farms and people’s properties.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for the past three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
