Military Strategy Necessary for Liberation of Quds: Analyst
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior political analyst based in Lebanon stressed the futility of international efforts to restore the rights of the Palestinian people and said the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem) cannot be liberated without a military strategy.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Amin Hotait, a retired Lebanese army general who is also an expert in military and strategic affairs, hailed Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s recent remarks about the liberation of Quds and said the Leader’s stance was a response to the US decision to relocate its embassy to Quds.
Pointing to Ayatollah Khamenei’s comment that the Resistance Front has been stretched from Iran to Syria and Lebanon and that it is Muslims’ duty to develop plans for the liberation of Quds, the analyst said, “The remarks have been made within a rational and natural framework.”
“Quds has not been liberated by international resolutions and political or diplomatic approaches,” he said, adding that, therefore, the only solution to liberate the city is to use military force.
On February 23, the Trump administration said the US embassy in Quds will open on May 14 in order to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Zionist regime of Israel’s self-proclaimed independence.
It came following Trump’s move in December 2017 to recognize Quds as Israel’s capital, which drew widespread international condemnation and sparked protests in the Palestinian territories.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has described the US controversial move as a sign of “weakness and incompetence”, saying, “The Islamic world will definitely stand against this plot and the Zionists will receive a bigger blow.”
“Dear Palestine will be undoubtedly liberated at last,” the Leader said recently, stressing that the issue of Palestine is the paramount political subject in the Muslim world.
