Yemen Army Launches Drone Attack on Saudi Aramco Facility

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni troops launched a drone strike on the Abha International Airport belonging to oil giant Saudi Aramco in the kingdom’s southwestern Jizan region, a report said.

Yemen’s Air Force announced the execution of air strikes with the Qasif 1 drones on Aramco in Jizan province, Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.

Yemeni sources said flights at the airport have been canceled due to the strike.

There was no immediate Saudi comment on the report.

In a separate development on Wednesday, the Yemeni army and popular committees hit the Saudi-led forces' positions with a homegrown missile dubbed “Qaher M2” in the Alab border crossing in Asir region in retaliation for the continued attacks on civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

Saudi positions in Jizan were also targeted with a short-range Badr-1 missile on Wednesday.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
