Iran’s Weightlifter Soltani Wins Gold at 2018 Asian Junior Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hossein Soltani from Iran claimed a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship on Friday.
In the men’s 77kg weight category, Soltani managed 144kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk for a total of 324kg.
Uzbekistan’s Umirbay Mavlenov seized a silver medal after lifting 143kg in snatch and 170kg in clean and jerk. He won silver with a total of 313kg.
The bronze medal went to Korean weightlifter Yu Jun Jang. He lifted 132kg in snatch and 166kg in clean and jerk for a total of 298kg.
The 25th Asian Junior Women and 32nd Asian Junior Men Weightlifting Championships are being held from April 20 to 30 in Urgench, Uzbekistan.
The Asian championships will serve as qualification for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics Games (YOG).
