Truce Agreed for Syria’s Yarmouk Camp Excludes Daesh: Palestinian Figure

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – A recent truce deal between the Syrian government and rebel groups in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk does not include members of the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, a member of the Central Committee of the National Front for the Liberation of Palestine said.

Badr Jibril told Tasnim that the ceasefire agreement reached for the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp south of the Syrian capital of Damascus excludes members of the Daesh terror group.

He further emphasized that the truce deal only includes members of the al-Nusra Front and their families, estimated to be 500 to 700 in number.

“Now, Daesh terrorists have only two options: being killed by attacks by the Syrian army and Palestinian groups or surrendering and leaving southern Damascus, like what the terrorists of al-Nusra Front have done,” the Palestinian figure added.

The Syrian government and rebel groups have agreed a truce in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk.

The ceasefire deal says the main entrances to the camp will be opened and basic services will be restored.

The ceasefire is said to include the Syrian government, rebel groups based in Yarmouk and many Palestinian factions.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
