Defeating Iran Volleyball Was Not Easy, Italy Coach Blengini Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Italy national volleyball team coach Gianlorenzo Blengini said that defeating Iran in the 2018 Volleyball Nations League was not an easy task.

The Italian team beat Iran in straight sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-20) in San Juan in Week 2 of VNL on Sunday.

“All the matches are difficult but different. We knew it was not going to be easy but we played with intelligence, searching for solutions even when things weren’t going as we wanted,” Blengini said in the post-match conference.

“We will have another hard game against Argentina. They will play at home and there’s going to be a lot of people.”

Italy player Osmany Juantorena, who is a Cuban volleyball player with Italian citizenship, also said they won the match after making less mistakes against Iran.

“It was a very hard match for us. We served really bad and couldn’t find our rhythm against Canada. It was easier against Iran because we served better and had a good side-out,” Juantorena said.

“We committed less mistakes and played better. We are very happy. We have an important match against Argentina. Since they are playing at home, we need to keep our focus and play our game,” he added.
