We Looked Tired against Italy: Igor Kolakovic

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran volleyball team coach Igor Kolakovic says they came from a long match against Argentina and looked tired against Italy.

Iran lost to the European giant 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-20) in San Juan in Week 2 of Volleyball National League (VNL) on Sunday.

“We had the opportunity to play against one of the best teams in the world. Maybe we could have played better but the team looked tired,” Kolakovic told fivb.com.

“We came from a long match against Argentina but I am happy because the younger players had the chance to play against stars. They deserved to play and showed quality. They made a great effort, which is positive for us,” he added.

Also, Iran player Ali Shafiei said, “I would like to congratulate Italy. I think we were surprised in the first two sets and they started very good on all fronts. It was very hard for us to fight back in the game. We have to stay in the game from start to finish.”
