Leader Highlights US Failure in West Asia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei denounced the US government as “the Great Satan” and said Washington’s policies against the Islamic Republic and other Western Asian nations have faced defeat.
Addressing a large congregation of worshippers after the Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tehran on Friday morning, Ayatollah Khamenei said the reason behind continued conspiracies of “evil powers” against Iran is their concern over the nation’s resistance, power and independence.
“Although the powers keep trying (to undermine Iran’s power), they always face defeat,” the Leader said.
The US president has acknowledged that his country has spent $7 trillion in West Asia without acheiving any results, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that it means their defeat in the region.
“This confession proves that the Great Satan has not achieved its goals despite all its efforts, and henceforth, however much they spend in this region, once again, they will not be able to reach their goals,” the Leader said.
Elsewhere, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the Iranian nation should remain vigilant against conspiracies hatched by the enemies, adding, “Today, the enemy’s main plot is economic pressure against masses of people so that they get tired and disappointed.”
The Leader further urged all Iranian governmental organizations to make unceasing efforts to confront the plot.
Ayatollah Khamenei led the Eid al-Fitr prayers in the Iranian capital in a festive rite celebrating the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
A huge crowd of worshippers, including senior Iranian officials and military commanders, attended the ritual at Tehran’s Mosalla (Grand Prayer Grounds).
Eid-al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.
Also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.
The observance traditionally begins with the sighting of the new moon of the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
