160 Saudi-Backed Militants Captured in Hudaydah: Ansarullah Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Some 160 Saudi-backed mercenaries have been captured by Yemeni troops during operations in the western port city of Hudaydah, an official with the Houthi Ansarullah movement said.

Yemeni forces stepped up their attack against Saudi-backed mercenaries and UAE forces in Hudaydah on Sunday, and succeeded in capturing 160 militants in the port city, Ali al-Emad said, the Al-Mayadeen news network reported.

He added that the captives had been transferred out of Hudaydah.

The Saudi-led coalition and its mercenaries began a massive operation on Wednesday to bring Yemen’s port city under their control.

While the Yemeni army and popular committees are fighting off the assailants and countering attacks on residential areas, international humanitarian organizations have warned of dire consequences of any escalation of violence around Hudaydah.

UN Humanitarian Coordinator Lise Grande warned recently that “as many as 250,000 people may lose everything -even their lives,” in case of a military attack on Hudaydah.
