Palestinian Dies after Israeli Soldiers Shoot Him near Gaza Border

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli soldiers on Monday shot a young Palestinian man near the Great Return Camp, east of Gaza City, causing a serious injury.

Medical sources in Gaza said the Palestinian was taken to the Shifa Medical Center, in Gaza City, before he was admitted to surgery, after suffering severe wounds, International Middle East Media Center reported on Monday.

The young man, identified as Sabri Ahmad Abu Khader, 24, was shot after the soldiers fired live rounds targeting protesters, east of the city.

He died in hospital of his wounds.

Sabri was a newlywed young man, who got married only five months ago.

In recent weeks, Palestinians have sent kites dangling coal embers or burning rags across the Gaza border. Flying kites and balloons has become a new mode of resistance since Palestinians began their weekly protests near a fence separating the Gaza Strip from the occupied territories on March 30.

The protests peaked on May 14, when some 40,000 Gazans protested along the fence on the same day that the US opened its embassy in Jerusalem (al-Quds) in a provocative move.

Israeli snipers and special troops have shot and killed nearly 130 peaceful Palestinian protesters, sparking international outcry over the disproportionate use of force.
