In a message on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned the grenade attack in Addis Ababa that killed two people and wounded more than 150 others.
Expressing sympathy with the families of victims and those injured in the attack, the spokesperson voiced Iran’s solidarity with the Ethiopian government and nation on the path towards progress and democracy.
Qassemi also decried any use of violent or terrorist activities.
Thirty people have been arrested over alleged involvement in Saturday’s grenade attack on the rally attended by Ethiopia’s new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The rally, attended by tens of thousands, was in support of Abiy’s push for radical political and economic reforms, including a peace deal with regional arch-enemy Eritrea.
