Hamas Defends Rapid Response to Israeli Aggression
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas described the recent launch of rockets at Israel as a necessary rapid reaction from the resistance movement to the Zionist regime’s aggression against peaceful demonstrations.
In a statement, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said the intensification of cruel measures by the occupying Israeli regime and its crackdown on peaceful demonstrators required rapid reaction from the Palestinian resistance.
The resistance movement’s responses show it is fully prepared to do its duty to defend the Palestinian nation and protect its interests, he added.
Barhoum further warned the Israeli regime of dire consequences if its “foolish measures” continue.
The Israeli military said around 70 rockets and bombs had been fired into the occupied territories by Tuesday evening, wounding three Israeli soldiers.
The retaliatory attacks come as nearly 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and 3,000 have been injured during mass demonstrations along the Gaza border since March 30.
Israel's tactics in confronting the protests have drawn international condemnation.
The demonstrations have been staged by Palestinians to demand the right to return to homes their families fled or were expelled from following the founding of Israel 70 years ago.
Around two million people live in Gaza, most of them stateless descendants of refugees from what is now called Israel.
