Russian military Says Shot Down Drones at Airbase in Syria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Unidentified drones have been shot down near Russian Hmeimim military airport in Syria, a report said.
The base was not damaged during the incident, RIA news agency cited an airbase spokesman as saying on Sunday.
In January, Russia said that its troops had successfully repelled multiple drone attacks launched by militants on its naval and air bases in Syria.
Russia has been conducting air raids against terrorist outfits in Syria at the Damascus government’s request since September 2015.
Moscow has also maintained a naval group in the Mediterranean since the start of its anti-terror campaign in the war-ravaged Arab country.
