Paykan Suffers 2nd Loss at Asian Women’s Club Volleyball C’ship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Paykan of Iran suffered its second loss in a row at the 2018 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship on Thursday.

Paykan was defeated against Chinese Taipei’s CMFC 3-2 (24-26, 26-24, 15-25, 25-16, 15-11) in Pool B.

Wei-Hua Wu captained her team with 25 attacks, and notably delivering in crucial plays in the tie-breaker. Tzu-Ya Chen also helped out with 17 points (13 attacks, 3 service aces, 1 block).

The Iranian team had lost to Kazakhstan’s Altay 3-0 (25-18, 265-16, 25-17) in its opening match on Wednesday.

The 2018 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship is the 19th edition of the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, an international volleyball club tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with the Volleyball Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (VFRK).

It’s being held in Kazakhstan from July 11 to 18.

The tournament serves as the Asian qualifiers for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship with the champion qualifying for the World Championship.
