Iran’s Administration to Split Ministry into Two

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian administration introduced a bill that would splinter the Ministry of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare into two new ministries after being ratified by the parliament.

In a cabinet session on Sunday, chaired by President Hassan Rouhani, the administration passed a bill to divide the Ministry of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare into the ‘Ministry of Welfare and Social Security’ and the ‘Ministry of Labor and Cooperative’.

The cabinet has cited the need for “more focus on jobs and entrepreneurship”, mobilization of all efforts to reduce unemployment, and more effective support for vulnerable groups against economic shocks for its decision to split the ministry.

The bill needs to be passed by the Parliament to take effect.
